OGs take on Gresham's!
26 Mar 2008
A formidable team of OG hockey players took on the senior Gresham's teams in early March, winning all of their matches versus the 1st XI, 2nd XI and U16 boys' teams.
With enough players to form nearly three sides, OGs proved their enthusiasm for hockey by turning up in droves in their trademark black and pink kit; even more OGs were spotted cheering from the sidelines. Drawing extremely strong players, including James and Robert Fulford, Jeremy Elliot, Alex Broom and Ralph Jackman, the OG teams provided a skilful and challenging opposition for the Gresham's boys.
All the Gresham's teams put up a hard fight. The U16 boys managed to draw their game 2-2, however the students were no match for the OGs, with the old boys winning 6-3 over the 1st XI and 8-1 over the 2nd XI.
The OG Hockey Team (HOGS) is an active group of hockey enthusiasts who play regularly on Thursday afternoons throughout the autumn and winter months on the Gresham's astro-pitches. Annual matches versus the school teams are highly anticipated, as is the yearly post-Boxing Day match on 27th December.
Teams reflect a range of ages and all OGs are warmly invited to join.
