Greshams' pupils and staff recently recorded a traditional Chinese New Year greeting in Mandarin and Cantonese to celebrate the Year of the Dragon.

The year 2012 is the year of the dragon. We celebrated this’ Spring Festival ‘at Woodlands boarding House hosted by Mrs Ellis-Retter and Mr Retter. This event was a few days earlier than New Year so that we could make a video clip to send out to families of current pupils and Old Greshamians on the actual day. The house was decorated with traditional red decorations and banners welcoming the New Year. Making the film was an exciting experience because it was the first time that we have done this. There was an eclectic mix of pupils and staff. There were: Mandarin speakers from China, Cantonese speakers from Hong Kong and English and German pupils who act as Mentors for the new overseas pupils. It took several takes to make the film but the final result was good. After the filming we tucked into a delicious feast of Chinese food which was greatly enjoyed by all.
