John K Coleridge

12 Dec 2011

We regret to inform you that John K Coleridge has passed away.

A goodly gathering of current and ex staff, friends, and OGs mainly from the 60’s and 70’s joined widow, Myrna, son Michael (H 1969-74), stepson Mark (c & H 1975-82) and grandchildren Anthony and Annie children of the late son Andrew (H 68-73) at a Thanksgiving Service for the life of John Coleridge at Fakenham Church on Wednesday 14th December.

Many will remember him as an inspirational teacher of English and a friendly, inclusive housemaster, a games coach and a great director of plays. For 33 years John was right at the heart of Gresham’s life. Not only was he the founding housemaster of Tallis but he was also Second Master (Deputy Head) and for his final term Acting Headmaster. The Editor of the Old Greshamian Magazine, John Smart, intends to publish the text of Steven Benson’s tribute delivered at the service in the next edition.

If you wish to give a donation in John Coleridge's memory, the nominated charity is Cancer Research. Donations can be sent c/o:- S. T. Sutton Funeral Directors, Burnt Street, Wells-next-the-Sea, Norfolk, NR23 1HL
